Thuppakki movie spot Stills

Tuesday, 6 March 2012

Ilayathalapathy Vijay gives evasive replies whenever you ask him about his role in the forthcoming high action entertainer Thuppakki directed by A.R. Murugadoss — in fact, the duo have been carefully keeping all details about the film under wraps.

But our sources in Mumbai, where the first schedule of shooting took place for 40 days, confirm that the Velayudham star is essaying an encounter specialist in the movie.

“Vijay is acting as a high profile cop from Mumbai and most part of the film takes place in the business capital,” says the unit source. Reportedly, a hilarious scene was shot recently by Murugadoss — a typical pen paarkkum padalam (the traditional way of ‘seeing’ a girl by the boy’s family for fixing an alliance) scene in which Vijay, straight from work and clad in khaki, comes to see his bride-to-be played by Kajal Agarwal and she serves him sweets and coffee. While Santhosh Sivan cranks the camera, Harris Jayaraj has been roped in for the music.

Sources inform that thanks to the ongoing strike in the film industry, Vijay is hitting the gym everyday and running those extra miles — to get the perfectly-toned body of a tough cop.

Jai Not in Thuppaakki?

Ace director AR Murugadoss has confirmed that Jai is not acting in his upcoming flick Thupakki. Earlier there were reports that Jai will be acting in Thupakki as the younger brother of actor Vijay in the film. Murugadsoss has updated that there is no brother character in the film and Jai is not part of it.
It is expected that the film will showcase an extra stylish Vijay donning the role of an encounter specialist.  The film has raised expectations as it has Vijay signing a party song to the tunes of Harris Jayaraj, penned by Karki.
